Is Google Dwindling From the Top Position?
Sep 18, 2010 Google has been on top of the charts, when it comes to the virtual world. It has been ruling the internet industry since its existence but, with vanishing of Google Wave and fizzling of Google buzz, the top position seem to be slithering from the hands of the search engine giant. The market share reports also indicate towards the facts that Google is dwindling on its top position. Google is facing a tough competition from its biggest rivals Yahoo and Microsoft Bing, who are leaving no stone unturned to get on the Top of the charts of the internet industry
Although, there is a nominal difference in market percentage points but, ‘it has gone down’ and Google cannot afford to ignore the statistics to sustain the foothold it has created. The gradual turn down in percentage share is a matter of concern for Google. The declining searches and less of SEO, SEM and SMO campaigns targeting for Google is surely the reason behind its shaking position. The statistics show that Microsoft Bing and Yahoo together have gained greater percentage shares than Google has lost.
Both Microsoft Bing and Yahoo have experienced over half a percent raise in the market share in the recent survey report. There is a dramatic increase in the searches and SEO campaigns of Microsoft Bing and Yahoo and graphs are showing great signs of progress. The recent research show that these search engines show more relevant results as they are using contextual search method. This has drifted the inclination of web surfers from Google to Yahoo and Bing.
Google is losing on its market with Yahoo and Bing sprucing up their search techniques and making them more useful, relevant, and pertinent. The strategy of contextual search of combining content and related search together have worked in favor of Yahoo and Microsoft Bing and have been successful in pulling a chunk of market share from leading industry giant –Google.
The Fact and Figures says it all –According to Comscore, Google accounts to 62.6% market share in the month of June which is about 1.1 points less than it was in May. On the other hand Yahoo shows 18.9% market share which has increased by 0.6 points than the previous month. Microsoft’s Bing accounted 12.7% market share again with an addition of 0.6 points than the previous month May.
Around 10.3 billion searches were performed on Google in the month of June which is 1% more than the searches made in May.
